Same Friday nights. A new game. 5 Feb to 5 Mar 2027
Register your interestThe game changes, the Friday night doesn't. Rugby. Family. Wakehurst.
Why we're switching
Rugby Australia's own game
Tri-Tag is Rugby Australia's official non-contact game, and RA is backing it with tag belts and development officers on the night.
Closer to real rugby
Simple scrums, lineouts and a ruck. A natural step into winter rugby for kids, and a way back in for adults.
The World Cups are coming home
The men's Rugby World Cup in 2027 and the women's in 2029. More girls and women are being welcomed into the game than ever.
More people at Wakehurst
Clubs and schools from across the Northern Beaches and North Shore can enter teams, so the Park gets busier.

Questions
Do I need to have played rugby before?
No. Tri-Tag is made for people who have never played. Your team will pick it up on the first night.
What should I wear?
Sports gear, and runners or rugby boots. We'll give you your shirt, and Rugby Australia provides the tag belts.
Is it contact?
No. Tri-Tag is non-contact. You pull a tag off the belt instead of making a tackle.
Can adults play?
Yes. Opens is for U16 and up, and adults. Men's, women's and mixed teams.
I don't have a team. Can I still play?
Yes. Choose "Player looking for a team" in the form and we'll help find you one.
Is it still the same Friday night?
Yes. Same Park, same BBQ, canteen and bar, same people. The game changes, the Friday night doesn't.
Can teams from other clubs or schools enter?
Yes. Clubs from across the Northern Beaches and North Shore are welcome to enter teams under their own club name.
When do registrations open, and how much is it?
Registrations open in Rugby Xplorer on Thursday 10 December 2026. The team manager nominates the team and shares the link, then each player registers. The fee is confirmed when registrations open.
Which age group do we register in?
Rugby age groups change on 1 January each year. Tri-Tag starts in February 2027, so you play in your 2027 age group, the same one you'll play in this winter. Rugby Xplorer works it out from your date of birth when you register. Not sure? Email vp-touch@wakehurst.rugby.
Is there a free come-and-try?
Yes. Come down and give it a go before you commit. Dates coming soon.
Is this the same as winter registration?
No. In Rugby Xplorer choose Tri-Tag 2027, not the winter season. If you pick the wrong one, email us and we'll sort it.
Our team is short of players
Tell us when you register interest. We match players from the 'looking for a team' list to teams that need them.
