More Than Just a Rugby Club

Since 1966 we've been building community on the Northern Beaches β€” one family at a time.

Family First

Wakehurst is a club built by families, for families. From Minis through to senior players, the whole family is welcome every weekend.

Pathways for Every Player

Learn the fundamentals in Minis, develop skills through the junior grades, and compete at a high level in seniors. We have a pathway for everyone.

Strong Community

Canteen, BBQ, bar, and a friendly club environment. Our end-of-season dinner, presentation night, and volunteers make this more than a game.

Beautiful Ground

Wakehurst Rugby Park at Belrose β€” a purpose-built facility the community built with its own hands. Great fields, quality floodlights, modern facilities.

Expert Coaching

All coaches hold current Smart Rugby accreditation. Junior coaches are supported by the club and Rugby Australia with training and resources.

Touch Rugby Too

Touch 7s runs Friday evenings in multi-week waves. Perfect intro to the club or a standalone social activity for kids and adults.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be graded before playing?
Juniors (U10+) are graded based on ability and age. Minis (U6-U9) play in non-competitive age groups - no grading. Seniors are open to all - come down and we will find the right team for you.
What gear do I need?
Minis and Juniors need moulded-stud boots, a mouthguard, and shorts. We supply jerseys and socks at training. For Seniors, you will need shorts and boots - jerseys are provided.
When does the 2026 season start?
The 2026 season opens on ANZAC Day, Saturday 25 April. Minis play Sunday mornings from late April. Juniors play Friday nights and Sunday mornings. Seniors play Saturday afternoons from April.
Can I join mid-season?
Yes - especially for Minis and Seniors. For Juniors, late-season entry is possible but graded teams fill up quickly. Contact our registrar early and we will find you a spot.
How do I register a child in multiple grades?
Each program requires its own Rugby Xplorer registration. Contact our registrar if you are unsure - we will walk you through it.
What is the Working With Children (WWC) requirement?
All coaches, managers, and volunteers working with players under 18 must hold a current NSW WWC Check. The club must sight and verify your clearance before your first session. Paid workers need an Employee Check; volunteers get a Volunteer Check free of charge. Apply at wwccheck.ocg.nsw.gov.au.
Is Touch rugby running in 2026?
Touch 7s is not running as a separate club competition in 2026. Watch this space - we are working on bringing it back. Register your interest via the contact page.
