2026 — Our 60th Season

In 1975, volunteers moved 140,000 cubic yards of fill by hand to build a ground on waste land. In 1983, they played their first game on grass they grew themselves — at zero cost to council.

That's still us. That's still Wakehurst.

From Our Families

What Wakehurst Means

Three generations. One field. One club.

Standing just beyond the rope, coffee in hand, eyes fixed on the field. They've been here hundreds of times — early mornings, wet Saturdays, cold wind off the ocean. But today, none of that matters. It's all about watching who the kids are becoming.

The Parents Wakehurst Story

My son barely wanted to get out of the car on the first day. By the end of the season, he cried because it was over. That's what this club does to kids.

A Minis Family Belrose

My dad played here. I played here. Now my kids wear the same jersey. Sixty years of Wakehurst in three generations — and the ground feels exactly the same.

Three Generations One Club · Since 1966
"From a rough hillside in Belrose to 200 members and counting — Wakehurst was built by the families who showed up every week."

Founded in 1966, Wakehurst Rugby Club built its home ground from scratch using volunteer labour, personal bank guarantees, and pure community spirit. Every player who has ever pulled on the green and gold is part of that story.

The moment it clicks

"This isn't just a team.
This is our club."

At Wakehurst, that moment comes differently for everyone — pulling on the jersey for the first time, standing shoulder to shoulder after a hard game, or watching your child walk off the field taller than when they walked on. But at Wakehurst, it always comes.
