Wakehurst Rugby U14 Fiji Tour 2025

Wakehurst Rugby Club’s Legacy of Touring Continues: Fiji 2025

In October 2025, our U14 squad will continue the cherished Wakehurst Rugby Club tradition by touring Fiji, a journey that promises enriching experiences both on and off the field. This tour offers players and their families an incredible opportunity founded on core principles:

  • Enjoyment of Rugby: A collective belief that rugby is a fun and rewarding sport.
  • Building Friendships: Reinforcing bonds that will last through shared experiences and memories.
  • Memorable Adventures: Creating stories and moments to cherish and reflect upon in years to come.
  • Diverse Rugby Experiences: Exposure to different levels of rugby, including international matches.
  • Cultural Immersion: An authentic experience of Fijian culture and community.

Club legends Gareth “Bladesie” Blades and Michael Gullick will guide the 2025 U14 team. Both are seasoned leaders who have brought Wakehurst teams to Fiji in previous years. Their guidance is essential in blending competitive play with the spirit of camaraderie.

Key Local Partners and Legacy of Friendship

In Fiji, Bill Dawai, a long-time friend of Wakehurst Rugby Club, will play a pivotal role on the ground. His connection to the club spans over a decade, and he will accompany us throughout our tour. Many of our planned activities will involve Bill’s family and his village, deepening our immersion in Fijian culture.

We also honour the memory of Peceli “Kina” Kina, a former Fijian international and Warringah player in the 1980s, who was instrumental in all our tours from 2005 to 2019. Although Kina passed away in 2023 after a brief illness, his legacy and close bond with our club endure. His family remains involved in this year’s tour, reflecting our ongoing commitment to friendships across borders.

Supporting the Tour and Community Initiatives

Fundraising continues as we work toward making this tour an extraordinary experience for our players. Donations also help us provide rugby kits, clothing, and stationery to the Fijian villages we visit, fostering connections and giving back to the communities that warmly welcome us.

We invite our community to support the 2025 U14 Fiji Tour and join us in this journey of rugby, friendship, and cultural exchange.

Fiji Tour Fundraising

You will see some of the U14 team selling Raffle Tickets in and around the area. Please support them by buying a ticket or two!

Tickets go on sale on 7th November, 2025. They cost $5 each (please note, there are no special offers i.e. no 3 for $10, etc).

Sponsorship

We believe there is a great opportunity to offer local businesses valuable brand promotion, recognition, and access to our local community families, while at the same time helping our families send their children on their 1st International Rugby Tour that includes an incredible cultural and educational opportunity.

If you believe your business would benefit from being involved with the Under 14 2025 Fiji Tour, please contact:
Marcus Stock, our Sponsorship Coordinator, M. 0425 333 445 or E. vp-touch@wakehurst.rugby

Other Events

The U14 team has been involved in many fundraising events over the last few months. The team has been busy selling Meat Tray Raffle Tickets at the Belrose Hotel on Thursday nights.

We still have lots of opportunities to fundraise or be a sponsor for. Up and-coming events include:

  • WRC Parents Trivia Night – dates TBC but planned for June 2025
  • Canteen & BBQ Operations at our Junior Comp home games.
  • Clubhouse Events – State of Origin and after training dinners.

We’d love your support of the tour players to help give everyone involved the best experience on this 2025 Fiji Tour. Monies raised also go toward purchasing rugby kits, clothing and stationery to donate to the Fijian villages we visit whilst on tour.
